Andrew Haveron (violin), Daniel Blumenthal (piano) When the English violinist Andrew Haveron performed in the most recent Queen Elisabeth Competition, he revealed a rare and intense musical personality. His unique approach, combining musicality and technical accomplishment, led to the realisation of the present recital CD where the chosen repertoire bears further testimony to his artistic philosophy. The CD opens with the Sonata by Richard Strauss - the composer's last purely chamber music opus. The central portion of the recital is devoted to two works by Tchaikovsky - Mélodie and Waltz-Scherzo - and the remarkable homage paid to him by Stravinsky who recreated the language of his predecessor while adding all the piquant of his "neo-classic" period. The recital ends with two essays in grand virtuosity by the American Franz Waxman : two fantasies on themes from two of the "grandest" operas in the repertoire, permitting us to (re)discover this composer too often only regarded as a film composer. | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |

Le Monde de la Musique: “One wonders how Repin manages to find so much freshness and spontaneity in a work as well known as the Tchaikovsky Concerto…one is tempted to put Repin, with Milstein, Heifetz and Stern, at the very summit of a plethora of recordings.” | | | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |
