In recent years Universal Music’s popular Deluxe Edition has set standards for reissue series. Now, for the first time, four classical titles are part of the 20 new Deluxe Edition titles being released and campaigned by Universal Music in 2008. All four are from Deutsche Grammophon.
They feature the well-known Deluxe Edition branded packaging: 2-disc sets, bonus content, digipacks with transparent Deluxe Edition O-card, and full-colour booklet.

Beethoven's Ninth, with its famous "Ode to Freedom" choral finale, is one of the best-known symphonies in the world. Karajan's 1962 recording was part of his renowned Beethoven symphony cycle that sold over a million copies within six years of release. In this Deluxe Edition package, the original release of the Eighth and Ninth Symphonies - in best sound quality ever - has additional bonus material, with Karajan rehearsing the Ninth with Berliner Philharmoniker before the recording. An essential part of Karajan's discography, these recordings are milestones in the history of Beethoven performance to the present day.
