Brahms - Complete Works

We proudly present our Brahms Edition. Now the amazingly varied output by Brahms is there to be enjoyed to its full extent. In excellent recordings on 60 CD’s and at an unreasonably low price. Johannes Brahms’ present fame is mainly based on his orchestral music with the four symphonies – taking up only 3 CD’s - at the core. Yes, generally people are aware of some vocal works and chamber music being there too…. But did you consciously know that almost half of Brahms’ oeuvre was written for voices? This applies to the duration of the music. But on top of this the vocal items outnumber the instrumental pieces by far! This Brahms Edition is the opportunity to get stuck into Brahms’ less-known works. Sample from the hundreds of songs on 13 CD’s; or find unknown gems among the a cappella choral works (12 CD’s). The piano music is performed by Alan Weiss, Kamerhan Turan, Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy, Håkon Austbø and Louis Demetrius Alvanis. And notice even the arrangement for piano 4-hands of the Academic Festival Overture is there. And so is 1 CD with organ works. A wealth of excellent performers in recordings mainly made over the past two decades. No less than 25% of which is brand new. These are the songs and duets with various singers including Christian Elsner, Michael Volle, Simone Nold and Lenneke Ruiten. They are accompanied by several pianists such as Helmut Deutsch and Gerold Huber. Another large section of the recordings were made by the excellent Chamber Choir of Europe in 2003 of all Brahms’ a cappella choral works. Isabelle Faust, Jaime Laredo, Roger Vignoles, Karl Leister, Tasmin Little and Nobuko Imai are several of the instrumental artists featuring in this Edition. Orchestras to be heard with Brahms include the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Berliner Symphoniker, Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra (symphonies) and Ulster Orchestra. Among the chamber music ensembles you will find the Brandis Quartett, the Tokyo Quartet, Alberni Quartet and the Nash Ensemble. Similar to our previous large editions a free CD-ROM is included. It contains extensive liner notes and all texts of vocal works. This time a more user-friendly format has been used.
