Teresa Berganza - The Spanish Soul

Teresa Berganza is the embodiment of the Spanish Soul: passionate and tender, irresistibly radiating Spanish humour and wit.

Although she triumphed in all classical opera roles, she excels in her native repertoire, and this is what is presented in this 3-CD set, as an homage to an exceptional artist.

This set present her famous “El Corregidor y la molinera” od Manuel de Falla, and her immortal interpretation of his “Seven Spanish Folksongs”.

CD 2 and 3 offer songs, of Granados, Turina, Toldra and Guridi, wheras CD 3 crosses the Ocean to South-America, with songs of Villa-Lobos, Braga and Guastavino.

These recordings, dating from the eighties, were awarded with several International record prizes, such as the Diapason d’Or and the Grand Prix du Disque.
