O'Boyle: | Concerto for Didgeridoo composed with William Barton (b. 1981) William Barton (didgeridoo) Riversymphony Jane Sheldon (Child of the River) & Anna Fraser (Mother of the River) Willoughby Symphony Choir, South Brisbane Federal Band & The Queensland Orchestra, Sean O'Boyle |
Two world premiere recordings are presented in this new CD from Australian composer Sean O'Boyle. The pieces take listeners on a spiritual journey through the unique Australian landscape, expressing its forms and life in music. The Concerto for Didgeridoo was inspired by didgeridoo player William Barton, the soloist in this recording, who provided O'Boyle with the rhythms on which the piece is based. Riversymphony symbolises the rivers of the world by telling the story of the Brisbane River and the eternal cycles of birth, death and renewal. “Lovers of film music in the modern Romantic idiom will thrill to Australian composer O’Boyle’s River Symphony. The orchestra sounds as though it believes in every note, as wave of melodically inspired invention
rolls over the listener in demonstration-worthy sound. No less arresting is the Concerto for Didgeridoo, composed with the soloist, William Barton…..” Classic FM Magazine, August 2008 | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |
