Admired for her exceptional musicality as well as her virtuosity, young British violinist Chloë Hanslip (born in 1987) is already established as an international artist of distinction. Her recent recording for Naxos, of the John Adams Violin Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin, entered the UK Classical Charts at number 2, and Philip Clark, writing in The Gramophone, concluded that “Playing like this should secure Chloë Hanslip’s reputation for life”. Her two earlier CDs with the London Symphony Orchestra for Warner Classics, won her, respectively, the German “Echo Klassik Award for Best Newcomer” in 2002, and “Young British Classical Performer” at the Classical BRITS 2003.
In recent years, chamber music has become an integral part of her life. She is a regular participant in Open Chamber Music at Prussia Cove, working with Steven Isserlis and Gerhard Schulz, and a regular performer at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland. |

Chloe Hanslip (violin) Slovak State Philharmonic Orchestera, Košice, Kirk Trevor “It's to Hanslip's credit that… she is unafraid to risk the unfamiliar. She makes a triumphant success of this concerto, not least because her playing is as forceful and muscular as it is assured, and one hears in every entry how well thought-through are her approach and her grasp of the work's subtle musical nuance.” The Strad “Hanslip…makes a good advocate of these pieces… Just what the music needs. And all her solo sprints are exhilarating. Glissando dashes, double, triple and quadruple stopping – nothing gives her pause.” The Times | | | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |

| | | Bazzini - Virtuoso Works for Violin and Piano
Chloë Hanslip (violin) & Caspar Frantz (piano) Antonio Bazzini, born in Brescia in 1818, was one of the great violinist-composers of the 19th century. After encouragement from Paganini following an encounter in 1836, he lived the life of a touring virtuoso for many years. Eventually returning to Italy, he was appointed first professor and then director of the Milan Conservatory and was a teacher of Mascagni and Puccini. Though he composed in larger forms, he is best remembered as the composer of numerous salon pieces for violin and piano, the most famous being La Ronde des lutins (The Dance of the Goblins), but also including many character pieces of various descriptions. “…Bazzini has the knack of integrating post-Paganini virtuoso features into a romantic style that's sophisticated, subtle and tasteful. Hanslip… has the confidence and technique for this repertoire: more importantly she's able to engage with each piece, bringing out its particular expressive character. It's lovely violin playing!” Gramophone Magazine, 2008 Awards Issue “The familiar piece here is the Ronde des lutins, a much-recorded perpetuum mobile, whose showy style of writing informs a great deal of the music, alternating with a line in sentimental melodies. Chloë Hanslip responds to both sides of Bazzini, and she's always rhythmically alert, whether in the rubato in the slower pieces, or the control of the cascades of notes in the faster ones.” BBC Music Magazine, October 2008 **** |
