Orchestra of the Mariinsky (Kirov) Theatre, St. Petersburg, Valery Gergiev N.B. The CD performance was recorded separately and is not the soundtrack of the DVD. '...brilliant almost beyond belief' The Times, London “Gergiev's reading of arguably the greatest classical ballet ever written has been tailored very specifically to the Mariinsky Theatre's performing version of the score. The word 'classical' colours the whole reading; poise and restraint become the watchwords with the rear of the orchestra - brass and percussion - generally quite subdued.” Gramophone Magazine, Janurary 2008 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |

| | | The Kirov celebrates Nijinsky
The Kirov Ballet, Chorus and Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg, Mikhail Agrest, choreography by Mikhail Fokine Some theatrical events live on in popular memory to become legends – such were Nijinsky’s appearances in Diaghilev’s early Saisons Russes in Paris. Mikhail Fokine was Diaghilev’s chief choreographer and his choreography marked a departure from many of the rigid rules and forms of classical ballet and ushered in a new expressiveness. He is widely considered to have been the creator of modern dance. This sparkling Russian gala features four Fokine ballets, all associated with Nijinsky. | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
